It is called many names and comes in many forms.
It is often defined as your purpose or your why, but calling it your universal mission or special skill set wouldn’t be untrue either.
I just call it your unique thing because in my eyes it compromises many different factors, and most probably in different ratios for every one of us.
Your unique thing consist of some skills, a vision, contribution, passion, drive and the list goes on. The closest to it, which describes it the most accurate for me is the Japanese Ikigai with a side note.
Ikigai in short:
The term can be translated roughly “the reason to live” the thing that drives you to wake up every day.
It is the thing that
You love AND
You are good at AND
The World needs AND
You can be paid for it.
Right in the middle of the crossing of those 4 things, sits your ikigai.
It has many mores shades, if you are interested check out Jay Shetty explaining it in this video – I really recommend it, it’s good stuff.
Using the above analogy my twist on it – which I call your unique thing is this:
And this is the hard part, the discovery, as your unique thing is likely to be hidden beneath many layers of thoughts, illusions, patterns – you need to gain clarity to find, to see, to discover your unique thing.
For me it took about 3,5 years of focused work with many sideways.
I will share this story with you in the upcoming posts, I’ll just call it a case study.
Keep your eyes open, it is coming…
Maybe you are familiar with the concept of ikigai.
If yes do you have yours?
What do you think of the extended concept of ikigai – your unique thing – do you have it?
how did you discover it – did it take long or did you just know somehow and download it from the universe?
Let me know, send me a mail.
