Today I learned a new concept (to me at least): the law of resonance.
What is this and why is it so much cooler than the law of attraction?
Let’s find out!
The law of attraction is roughly this:
You just have to concentrate on it hard enough, imagine, visualize, you just have to want it enough and the Universe will give it to you. Anything you want…
Does it work?
Maybe…in many cases, and this is why:
According to my logic there is a simple science behind it – no this is not magic, just psychology.
If you are focused on something – a vision, you have it on your mind all day, every day, you start to looking at the world through your unique filter, that highlights the clues that lead to that vision and dim everything else.
This phenomenon can also be referred to as “bending reality” – you see the part from the world that you focus on. This is what makes it possible that two people in the same physical-cultural etc. circumstances can live in two complete different realities.
We have good examples for it within our family – and you for sure have too – there are members completely hooked with and focused on politics, and other tragedies – they live in a world full of liars, cheaters, of course injustice, indignation.
I myself on the other hand am not willing to waste one single minute of my life lamenting on politics and all that comes with it. I live in a world that is filled with incredible humans, amazing nature, endless things to get excited about and to explore.
But let’s get back to the law of attraction:
You start to recognize possibilities, connections, events that can support you realizing your vision. You somehow start to drift in that direction automatically.
Classic example is when you are interested in buying a new car, and you do ton of research on a certain model, or you just bought it and suddenly you see “your car” everywhere in traffic. You recognize what you are focused on…and you also go in that direction.
First thing they teach you when you take driving lessons from a pro, eg. to be able to drive around a race track or you just take a course for driving safety is that you will go where you look, so you better keep your eyes on the road. Your hands follow your eyes. When you try to avoid an obstacle e.g. a crashed car in front of you, you must always look for the safe escape route where you can steer your vehicle. If you are focused on the obstacle, you will crash into it.
The same for the law of attraction: you recognize clues and drift towards it because this is where your focus is.
The law of resonance on the other hand sais that you attract things to you from the universe based on your..well…surprisingly based on your unique resonance. You project your energy and the universe reflects on this.
You do not get things that you want, you do get things that are aligned with who you are.
You might not see a big difference between the two laws at first but if you look closer there is a huge one that makes all the difference.
The law of attraction makes you focus on something to attract it to you, it just happens – this is a passive state.
The law of resonance explains getting things based on who you are, your being. This is an active state. As you most probably do not just float around helpless in an empty, timeless space but
you being who you are involves lots of action:
Sensing, understanding, deciding, choosing, connecting, communicating, acting, reacting, doing. And those effect where you get in life and what you get bigtime.
This is why the most important and most powerful tool and option you have to change your life, is to change, to shift your identity. To attract something (e.g. a new job) or somebody (your future wife/husband) into your life you first need to become the person that your dream company or partner is looking for, otherwise they won’t even recognize you. But once you become who you need to bo be to get their attention being pulled towards each other is inevitable as they are now focused on you.
I find the law of resonance to be a much more accurate and powerful concept, and if I had to pick one would rather bet on being someone than wanting something – to get what and where I want.
What about you?
What do you want?
Who do you need to be to get it?
